My Five Favorite Sci-Fi Horror Movies

Frankenstein, Night Of The Living Dead, Alien, Predator and Phantasm are my top five sci-fi horror films. Reanimated corpses, aliens coming to destroy us and aliens exploiting our dearly departed.

“It’s only a dream! No! It’s not!” - Phantasm II

I’d say it’s only a nightmare. Of course, in the case of a good, frightfully scary horror movie, it’s a dreamy dream we can embrace. We love to watch over and over. As a horror fan, I do that with a number of my favorite fright films. And with sci-fi horror, there’s something more realistic - or certainly it feels more genuine. Tales such as Alien, Phantasm or even George Romero’s classic, Night Of The Living Dead give us the creeps in a shocking, yet still scientifically (sci-fi) plausible way.

We all know, bless their bloodthirsty fangs, vampires came known to our culture as mythological creatures, born of folklore and historic fairy tales. Hairy assed Wolfmen may as well stay the big bads of childhood fiction, Little Red Riding Hood. However, interplanetary aliens, bad assed E.T.’s, may be entirely real, and unless we’re certain no rampaging alien force couldn’t tangle with our species, we’re left to wonder: Space born terror could, just maybe, happen to us.

Five Sci-Fi Shockers

  1. Frankenstein

  2. Night of the Living Dead

  3. Alien

  4. Predator

  5. Phantasm

Buck up, my bouncy Buck Rogers wannabe. Come on my little terrible terrified space case. Let’s talk all sorts of delirious dangers from the great beyond, as we cuddle up to science fiction horrors run absolutely a muck.
