Video games are powerful things. They can pass the time or become addictive. They can be social. They can even be a time thief or socially destructive. From the latest studies, they can be intellectually stimulating or even improve mental, creative and physical skills. Video games, just like more traditional games, are simply that - games. They allow the player to challenge themselves and pit their talents, wits and skills against others.
Say…. It sounds a lot like real life, doesn’t it?
Here, star Eddie Furlong (Terminator 2: Judgement Day) is a pretty standard teenager. He hangs out with his irritating buddy but most of the time he spends it in his cool attic room playing video games all day and night. One day he stumbles upon a new, horror game - one which promises fear and shock unlike any other. Soon, the game isn’t being played, it’s playing him and he’s paying a high, deadly price when people start winding up dead.
With a movie soundtrack composed by musician George S. Clinton and co-starring Frank Langella (Dracula) this 1994 sci-fi horror romp boasts more style and substance than many thrillers using a video game oriented plot.
