Christmas might come after Halloween on our official calendar, but the spooky output of seasonal movies connected with Santa’s celebration comes in a close second to the candy gorging and pumpkin bashing holiday. Titles such as director Bob Clark’s shocking Black Christmas 1974 and the wild sleigh ride of Krampus 2015 compete for spine tingling chills, as we soak ourselves silly in boozy eggnog and that infamous and risky grab bag gift giving.
But wait… Don’t despair if the family votes to watch It’s A Wonderful Life for the umpteenth time, there are so many other nightmarish Yuletide yarns to choose from and scare the kiddies silly.
Who doesn’t love the classic holiday flicks like yet another Ebeneezer Scrooge is a tight assed skinflint? Alas, even Charles Dickens can get a wee bit tired year after year. Why not go horror? Here are two more obscure Christmas thrillers; A Christmas Horror Story and Christmas Evil. Both fright flicks aren’t as well known, but are slowly gaining a devoted cult following. Who knows, next year, perhaps, you’ll want to watch em both alongside A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
