Listen. Did you hear that?
Hearing a scary thing in a horror film is just as common and essential as seeing something spooky. In fact, if it wasn’t for all the great sound FX and disturbing music playing, many horror movies would be almost boring.
Think of your favorite scary flicks. How about the music in director Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, Psycho. Recall the shower scene, but focus primarily on the sounds, not on doomed thief Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) being attacked in the shower. This is the awesome unsettling power of sound.
