Aye, I first wrote about this back in 2014, in my tome Chaos Ethics:

"The sheer volume of news coverage given to such terrible events as school shootings, enthusiastically pursued by 24-hour news presenters desperate for something worth reporting, reinforces the idea that it is easier to make a mark on the world through infamy than through honorable struggle."
