35 years ago the first TV spin-off of original Star Trek debuted in syndication. Created by Gene Roddenberry, it lasted seven seasons and spawned 4 feature films and a new spinoff, Star Trek: Picard.
Wonderful tribute--I really appreciate what Roddenberry, Berman, etc were able to accomplish with TNG--especially when you consider how crappy the current crop of Kurtzman-era Trek actually is,
No matter what other Trek show is created, Next Gen will always be most special since it was first to carry the torch blazed by the original series. Without its phenomenal success, it's a good bet all the other Treks would never have been produced. Four successful features followed...
Current Trek can't even get another feature off the ground. Sad...
