Star Trek Podcast: Star Trek: The Motion Picture Teaser Trailer With Orson Welles

Orson Welles Narrated The Original Star Trek: The Motion Picture Trailer

Orson Welles was a larger than life fascinating figure in more ways than one. He was a writer, producer, actor, and he even seriously practiced the art of magic, as a professional magician for most of his life. His legendary radio broadcast of War Of The Worlds - based on H.G. Welles novel - in 1938 and his feature film, Citizen Kane, are still talked about as two of the most memorable entertainment projects ever.

And yes, one of the most respected directors and Hollywood luminaries also worked on Star Trek.

Many Trek fans may not realize that Orson Welles narrated the first teaser trailer for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Welles lent his voice to narrate many a trailer and his flamboyant personality to dozens of TV ads, transforming him from an iconic film director into a sought after Madison Avenue pitchman. C’mon. Let’s talk Orson Welles and Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture teaser trailer.
