Set phasers on stun. Listen here for even more energized fun.
Phasers sound an awful lot like tasers. What’s your choice to take on an away mission?
Let’s talk on the primary defensive arm of the Starfleet professional, the phaser which stands for: Phased Energy Rectification. Though the fictional side of these fabled rayguns is cool, let’s explore the real life angle and how a phaser actually helped to give the world Star Trek.
Do you know that the phaser rifle Captain Kirk uses in the 2nd Star Trek pilot, Where No Man Has Gone Before helped to sell the show to NBC? According to the propmaker, Reuben Klamer, his prop excited the NBC brass so much, it helped to move along production and make a series sale.
PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, this recording suffers some weird tech gremlins. Overall, it’s listenable, though I apologize for the quirky sound you’ll experience at times. It’s not all bad though, I kinda sound like 80’s icon, Max Headroom.
