'Night Terrors' - spookiest Star Trek ever?

Is Counselor Troi floating around in murky space one of the reasons this Star Trek: The Next Generation episode qualifies as one of the weirdest, most unsettling Treks ever?

You try being half psychic. OK, maybe, just maybe, possessing some psychic power is better than none at all, but for a Starfleet pro such as Counselor Deanna Troi - and her uncompromising commanding officer, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) - the fact that she’s only half psychic alien Betazoid can be more than a bit frustrating.

Still, out of all of TNG’s many wild, even scary adventures, this one definitely stands out from the crowd for many reasons.

In Night Terrors, Season 4, Episode 17 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, you could say the USS Enterprise is transformed into one enormous haunted house.

And the disturbing spirits gathering all about Picard’s crew are restless, indeed.

A Stressed Troi (Marina Sirtis) in Night Terrors

Check out my buddy Eddie Steak’s take on Night Terrors.

Counselor Deanna Troi, why the hell couldn’t you have been a full Betazoid telepath? - thinks Captain Picard in almost every Next Generation episode.

Despite Troi’s obvious deficits at not being a full blown psychic, she does come in handy at times. C’mon my marvelous monster mashers, let’s talk creepy sci-fi as we tackle one of TNG’s wackiest, though still thoroughly unsettling episodes - Night Terrors.
