Lucille Ball Swept 'Star Trek' Sets On 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'

If creator Gene Roddenberry is father to the iconic pop culture powerhouse, Star Trek, then comedy legend Lucille Ball has got to be the sci-fi legend's celebrated Mom. During the filming of the 2nd pilot, 'Where No Man Has Gone Before', Lucy would playfully encourage her employees to keep up their hard work by pitching in, taking a broom and even sweeping up the planet sets on the Desilu sound stages.
For some, this may appear to be a fairly obvious way for the big boss to lay down the law to her employees, even a kind of internal PR stunt, however, Lucy not only actually swept the stages herself, but heartily laughed and teased the doing so while she gladly did the maintenance deed.
