Is Hawk Way Cooler Than Buck Rogers?

Buck Rogers In The 25th Century Gave To Us A Far Cooler Space Ranger - The Legendary Alien Birdman Hawk

Competition always proves fun, especially between the character leads in a TV show. Think Spock vs Kirk in Star Trek, Flo vs Alice in Alice or the Fonze vs everyone in Happy Days. It’s simply pure fun for audiences to root for their beloved TV show favorite. For the actors toiling away on the Hollywood sound stages, though, it can be a trying task indeed. When those fan mail bags come in more bulging for one than the other lead actor, it can’t be fun for one given the lighter load. Those weary thespians tired of the friendly competition may angrily shout, Kiss my grits!

For our discussion, it’s Hawk vs Buck Rogers. Yes, it actually happened back in the day on Buck Rogers In The 25th Century. Buck may pretend he doesn’t give a flying fat fuck, but I sincerely think he does.

Buck Rogers (Gil Gerard) competes with a groovy guy called Hawk and that can’t be an easy thing to do for even the most noble, savvy space explorer roaming about our galaxy in search of, well everything to search for and then some. After all, Buck’s starship is called Searcher. How’s that for an appropriate exploratory vessel? Branding is essential!

And that Searcher found Hawk may be of real consternation for Captain Rogers.

Is Hawk cooler than the still mostly captivating Buck Rogers? Does his superhero like costume - complete with slick, leather man inspired bodysuit and feathery bird cap - inspire fans to defect to team hawk from the loyal truck of Buck?

I’m More Popular Than You Buck, So Obviously You’re Shit Outta Luck

Played by accomplished actor, Emmy Award winner, Thom Christopher, Hawk, the enigmatic half-man, half-bird warrior, was introduced in the show’s 2nd and final season. His race, though now based far from Earth, was birthed on our own beauty of a blue marble. C’mon, my energetic Buck Rogers enthusiasts. Let’s discuss just how much Hawk upstaged, overshadowed and just plain stole the show from that cosmic danger loving duck known as Buck.
