When I find a truly satisfying film, I love sharing it with friends and family. The subject of Bigfoot - to our Native Americans, Sasquatch - has always been a fascinating one for me, ever since early childhood. After being introduced to so fascinating a concept - a species of huge, hairy Wildmen living in the wilderness - at so young an age, perhaps you’ve no choice but to then be slightly obsessed with the Squatch and his Squatchery. As for the number of Bigfoot films I’ve seen, trust me, it’s probably way too many. So, after finding such an impressive documentary, A Flash Of Beauty: Bigfoot Revealed, I needed to spread the word.
While growing up in the 1970’s, I loved The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman. I also discovered the TV show Leonard Nimoy did after Star Trek and Mission: Impossible - In Search Of. Both television programs produced landmark installments with Sir Squatch as star.
While the bionic fueled, romantic duo of Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner fought Andre The Giant and Ted Cassidy as the rampaging - although ultimately misunderstood creature - Nimoy’s foray into Sasquatch territory featured what’s still the most fascinating video footage captured on Bigfoot - the famed Patterson-Gimlin short film. All who see the PGF, as its commonly called, may still debate its ultimate authenticity, but few will argue how it fascinates. As its supporters argue - if it’s a hoax, it’s a spellbinding one indeed.
