Why Star Trek's USS Enterprise-1701 Is So Loved As A Sci Fi Starship
Captain Kirk's Starfleet Starship USS Enterprise-1701 Remains The Most Iconic Sci-Fi Vessel In All Of Star Trek
Star Trek's Captain Kirk commanded his elegant USS Enterprise 1701 on NBC in 1966. This now iconic Starfleet Starship became home and a space faring wagon train to the stars to give us the crew of Spock, Bones, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty and so many others.
Decade after decade, though other Star Trek spin-offs have warped into our hearts, the first Enterprise continues to be one of the most favored vessels in all of science fiction TV and films.
Passionate fans can debate it. And they do argue over the particulars often. There are so many reasons why USS Enterprise 1701 is still so beloved as the most popular sci-fi starship.
Why do you love Captain Kirk’s Enterprise?
I was at the Smithsonian years ago and was able to see the original Enterprise model at the Air and Space Museum. I was stunned at how large it was, and how beautiful! There's truly nothing like it. I do like the refit for ST:TMP too. That was the first Enterprise I actually saw.
