Star Trek's UFP Flag: A History Of The United Federation Of Planets Logo
Happy Fourth! Since Our American Flag Will Be Flying High This Independence Day, Let's Take A Look At Star Trek's UFP Flag & Logo History
Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek gave to the TV loving world, pop culture and to its loyal fans - Trekkers and Trekkies - the fabled UFP or The United Federation Of Planets. The UFP is a combined council of worlds to help foster friendship, maintain peace and spread its goodwill and planetary development goals throughout the galaxy. It’s sort of best thought of as Star Trek’s version of The United Nations - only established in the far reaches of outer space.
During this Fourth Of July Independence day observance, I thought it would be fun to look back to see the symbolic evolution of the UFP flag logo - coming first from Captain Kirk's (William Shatner) era on 'And The Children Shall Lead' into the hit theatrical movies with the death of Spock in Wrath Of Khan, then on into Captain Picard's USS Enterprise 1701-D with Patrick Stewart era during his crew’s The Next Generation adventures
