Star Trek boasts many great characters played by talented actors and actresses over the decades. From the Gene Roddenberry created original with Captain Kirk (William Shatner) and Mister Spock (Leonard Nimoy) to Captain Picard's (Patrick Stewart) Next Generation 1701-D and the rest, many actors have taken on multiple roles to flesh out fan favorite characters.
The actress who holds the record for most appearances in Star Trek episodes and movies is Majel Barrett aka Majel Barrett Roddenberry. Majel eventually married Gene Roddenberry and Trekkers saw her as Number One in the pilot, The Cage, then in 1966 as Enterprise's Nurse Christine Chapel, and as M'Ress in the 1973 animated series Finally in 1987, she’d play Lwaxana Troi, Counselor Troi's mother in The Next Generation. Throughout nearly all the sci-fi episodes, Barrett also voiced the Enterprise Starfleet computer, which evolved from the robotic sounding first series to the dulcet tones of TNG and beyond to DS9’s Defiant and Voyager’s computer as well.
