Star Trek's Lost Show From 1977 Phase II
In 1977 Paramount Tried To Launch A TV Project Called Paramount Television Service And Star Trek: Phase II Would Have Been Its Flagship Series
After the original 1966 Star Trek series ended its three season run, the feature film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, was released in theaters in 1979. It was the first original production since the live action show broadcast on NBC and the Saturday morning animated TV show, Star Trek: The Animated Series. But before Robert Wise directed the feature film, another Trek television show nearly made it to air in 1977.
Star Trek: Phase II would have become the flagship TV show of the newly minted Paramount Television Service, but when the new broadcast project was scrapped, the series then morphed into the William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy starring 1979 hit movie.
