When Denise Crosby Left The Next Generation Her Character Was Killed Off And Many Said It Was Meaningless, But It's Just The Opposite.

Star Trek: The Next Generation gave us the Starfleet capable and beautiful Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) the Enterprise D's Chief Of Security serving under Captain Picard. Despite being a fan favorite, Crosby felt her character wasn’t being given enough to do, and so she decided to leave Gene Roddenberry’s original Star Trek spin-off show.

Before the first season ended, Yar would die what many consider a meaningless death. She was brutally murdered in the line of duty by a vicious, powerful alien entity. Here are my thoughts on how she died and why her haunting murder is actually incredibly meaningful.
