There's A New Catholic Pope In The Vatican. On Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Bajorans Have Their Own Pope Called The Kai

A Star Trek Pope? Really? Yep. That's right, on Deep Space Nine, this religious leader is called The Kai by aliens known as Bajorans.

On Deep Space Nine, the planet Bajor follows an important religion. Their leader or head of their church is known by the faithful as The Kai. This is basically their Pope. During DS9's seven season run, we met Kai Opaka (Camille Saviola) first, and then later we encounter Kai Winn played by Louise Fletcher.

Let's talk about the similarities between the Pope and the Kai. It's interesting for Trekkers to see the strong parallels between this Star Trek sci-fi fictional religious leader and the head of the newly elected Roman Catholic Church leader, Pope Leo IVX
