Star Trek & Earth Patriotism: Patriotic For The United Federation Of Planets?
Gene Roddenberry Created A Sci-Fi Universe Where Planet Earth Was Now United & Part Of A United Federation Of Planets. Old Notions Of Nation States & Countries Had Long Faded.
Star Trek covers many different wide ranging topics, complex issues and even the notion of country loving patriotism. It’s a comprehensive look at the historic, sociological, scientific and even psychological facets of what it means to be human. But an important question still remains: What is being patriotic like in Captain Kirk (William Shatner) or Captain Picard's (Patrick Stewart) far flung future time fame? Does it or can it still apply hundreds of years into Earth’s future?
Captain Archer (Scott Bakula) before those legendary Starfleet Captains helped establish the quasi military force Starfleet which then was followed by the formation of the UFP or United Federation Of Planets. Can you be patriotic in Gene Roddenberry's science fiction universe, and in the end, what does that really mean?
