My Star Trek Captain Janeway Pitch Almost Sold To Voyager At Paramount Pictures
Star Trek: Voyager Debuted In 1995 on UPN. I Pitched To The Sci-Fi Show In Hollywood Several Months Later
In 1995, Star Trek: Voyager warped onto UPN - United Paramount Network - headed by Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and it is quite meaningful to me and my writing career. After selling scripts to Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, I was invited to pitch to Jeri Taylor, co-creator of Voyager, in Hollywood at Paramount Pictures studio.
This would be my first television pitch meeting as a screenwriter. Here is my wonderful experience at that Hollywood meeting with show runner Jeri Taylor pitching her my episode ideas for the 2nd Star Trek series spin-off of the original Gene Roddenberry created sci-fi series.

Honestly, you got a TNG episode and a DS9 episode. Going for Voyager as well is like having a 2,000 calorie Dairy Queen Blizzard for dessert after a ten course roast dinner! 😂 Cool that you got to have a proper pitch meeting during the golden years, though. I try not to envy people (such a destructive feeling...) but that is very cool.
Stay wonderful!
Chris.
