Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power - A Fan Speaks
Amazon's 'Rings of Power' Arrives In September. What Are Lord Of The Rings Fans Expecting And Hoping For In The TV Series?
Are you ready for the next generation in J.R.R. Tolkien’s transformational literature legacy - The Lord Of The Rings? It’s coming to Amazon Prime in September.
Honestly, I’ll admit, I am a bit concerned. After all, it’s an enormously complex literary world for any writing team to handle properly, however, I’m definitely still excited. But hey, what the hell do I know - right? I thought I’d tap my buddy, Eric Aznar, to share his thoughts. Eric is a real LOTR enthusiast and he gave me specific reasons why he’s concerned about The Rings Of Power. I’ve employed a new Substack feature - an audio clip embed. Enjoy!
Eric’s take on Rings of Power
“I’m mostly concerned since they have rights to appendices in the Lord of the Rings but not the Silmarillion which has the most information on the second age, so I’m going to constantly be wondering if they’re being faithful to the material or taking questionable liberties. I don’t feel like doing the research to determine what’s what.”
“If I wasn’t such a fan, I could probably watch the series with less of an eye towards detail, but unfortunately, I don’t think that’ll be possible. I was able to enjoy Game of Thrones because I never read the books or cared about the source material - the pressure was off.”
