Johnny Depp Body Language In His Case Against Amber Heard
Captain Jack Sparrow Should Do Something In Court Other Than Hunch Over And Apparently Try To Hide From Amber Heard's Blistering Testimony
Aye, me merry, marauding mateys! Tallyho! Go walk the dang plank me limey! Yes, pirate bullshit talk rules. Pirates sure know how to sling the proper BS. Barnacle Shit!
One bloke who spends much of his pirating time in the lush, tropical Caribbean is partaking in quite the landlubber sideshow. Now, my hardy mateys, know your swashbuckling host isn’t taking any sides, but I do notice most curious body language coming from the old salt of the seas himself!
You could say our devilish Depp is dodging all of the nastiness by a bunch of a hunch.
Johnny Depp may need a chiropractor before it’s all done. If you’re watching the daily drama of him and his ex in court, you will clearly see him offer up off putting body twisting and language. This goes on for hours at a time. He could be ruining his back and his posture with all that hunching over.
Each day during the course of his defamation case against ex-wife, Amber Heard, Depp can be seen hunching over doodling on a pad, hunched over looking into a computer monitor, hunched over straining to exchange points with his legal team. Mind you, this is a near 8 hour slog of a day - minus breaks and lunchtime - so over 6.5 hours of a bunch of hunch can really take a toll.
During Depp’s opening testimony, Amber Heard sat up properly. She appeared at full attention and engagement with the court. Her gaze was always either on whomever sat on the witness stand or steadily looking over at the jury. She remained poised, alert - she never hunched over nor rarely looked away. By any measure, you can call her engaged. Of course, I’d imagine Heard’s skeptics and detractors will call her rehearsed.
Body language coupled with an appealing appearance is a vital something a legal team always should cultivate and instill in their client. It’s really not very difficult to convey. Here’s a basic primer:
Basic courtroom advice: Don’t look bored. Don’t look angry. Don’t look silly. Don’t look sleepy. Don’t look like you’re hiding or appear as if you want to be anywhere but in the courtroom. Perhaps most importantly - look at and engage with the jury while testifying. Amber Heard looks at the jury. She talks to them directly. Johnny Depp may do so as well, but far less. And while his ex-wife testifies, he’s lost in a hunch.
Johnny Depp may be one of the most beloved Hollywood actors ever. He’s certainly one of the wealthiest and most famous. There appears - at least with some of the public - an automatic willingness to implicitly trust him. Believe him. Though no matter where you put your support - team Johnny or Amber - it’s clear Heard displays a more authentic kind of relaxed body language.
We still have a way to go before we know who is scoring best with the jury. Maybe she’s acting. Maybe he’s acting. Maybe the jury will think they’re both phony. I am not partial to either side, but the show itself is most fascinating for the human body language factor. And the thing I find most amusing of all is when Depp’s lawyers accuse the ex-wife of their fabulously wealthy client of handing in the performance of her life, when we all should remember Johnny Depp is a much older and far more experienced theatrical creature than Amber Heard.
