John Carpenter's 'Starman' Is The Ultimate Sci-Fi Road Movie

Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen make Carpenter's 'Starman' unforgettable

Starman, are you truly made of cosmic stardust? You still sparkle like a guiding star after all these years. Starring Jeff Bridges (True Grit) and Karen Allen (Raiders Of The Lost Ark) and directed by John Carpenter, this sci-fi romantic fairy tale premiered in 1984 to wide acclaim.

It was a creative departure for Carpenter, who had specialized in horror films. In 1982, with the release of his version of The Thing, the director cautioned us for encountering an alien lifeform. In Starman, he seems to be saying, ‘Don’t be hesitant. Don’t be afraid. Take a chance. It may work out wonderfully’ C’mon. Let’s talk about the power of an alien visitor known simply as Starman.
