Help Grow Sci-Fi Guy By Becoming A Subscriber
I Dearly Love Writing For You On Substack. Subscribers Help Me
Free is good. Free is fun. Free is easy. Free, though, can be hard. Writing most all of my Substack content and publishing it free feels wonderful. Each day, I can’t wait to produce more stuff and give you guys something cool, fresh, and FREE.
I wish I could keep doing just that - keeping all of it free. Free forever is difficult.
Substack has no advertising. Writers aren’t paid by Substack. This is our own publication. Our subscribers are sort of like advertisers. Well, you guys act more like patrons - like on Patreon. Anyway you look at it, keeping a newsletter going without help is tough. We need subscribers to help. Coming up with neat ideas, conducting diligent research, interviewing fascinating people, down to careful fact checking challenges and stimulates. It’s deeply satisfying. It’s also hard work.
I guess this comes off like one of those PBS Pledge Drives. You know the ones with all the earnest public television hosts delivering an ultra friendly pitch to tap your credit cards, PayPal or Venmo to pledge half your week’s wages.
With our basic tier membership plan we’ll send you that CD soundtrack of Riverdance or The Complete DVD Collection of Upstairs Downstairs! We just need your PBS Pledge.
I wish I had awesome gifts like that for you guys, though my articles - several new a week now - come pretty close to great free gifts. And guess what? The free stuff will continue. But the pay stuff - the locked up stuff - it needs support from, wait for it…

I’ll clearly emphasize: I’m not going anywhere. A Sci-Fi Guy has been personally and creatively satisfying to me in every possible way. I’ve no plans to abandon it anytime soon.
I’m simply being honest on the inescapable metrics and economics of balancing my time, energy and workload without compensation on a regular basis. It becomes a tough thing to pull off indefinitely. Yet, for right now, I’m looking forward to crafting many more entertaining, informative posts, and the great number of that future content will be free and stay free.
I’ve got plans. I want to expand with other newsletter sections and even, hopefully, a podcast to showcase established sci-fi, thriller and horror artists and those still trying to make it in the industry. Interviews can provide such valuable information and give a real important motivation to others who want to do the same in their own careers.
Already, I’ve interviewed the great, popular actress, Leni Parker, from Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict and David Holbrook star of the horror film classic, Creepshow 2. Leni talks about her love and devotion to being a vegan actor, while giving us real insights into her beloved alien character. David’s a psychiatrist now and has a fascinating look back at his career, plus the way he helps his clients these days. Many more chats with talented, fun creatives will likely follow.
Subscribing is easy and affordable. It’s only $5.00 a month. That’s only a buck and a quarter a week. Just hit the SUBSCRIBE BUTTON after enjoying one of my articles.

Best part? No commitment. Quit anytime. It’s like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max or Disney +, you can pause your subscription if you can’t afford it, or for whatever reason, then come back when you’re ready for more wondrous sci-fi, fantasy and horror fun.
Freebies excite everyone. I love free stuff. Don’t you love food samples in a mall food court? I love getting free trials on streamers. In the end, though, free can be hard to sustain for most of us. I want to keep not only doing A Sci-Fi Guy, but broaden its creative scope and my fan offerings so my audience is even more satisfied, entertained and engaged.
Subscribe if you can, and I thank you for all your support thus far!
Your Sci-Fi Guy Adventure is just beginning…..
Love it
