Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!
In the case of Alec Baldwin, we all know of his long time experience with firearms in movies. The New Mexico District Attorney, who charged the actor with involuntary manslaughter, says Baldwin is guilty of many instances of extremely reckless acts. These prosecutors say Baldwin well knows his way around movie gun play, yet when he did take time to go under minimal training for his movie Rust, he was distracted by talking to his family members on his cell phone during this training.
Here’s a breakdown of the charges against Alec Baldwin:
Not using a replica firearm for an unscheduled rehearsal
Letting the armourer leave the set against protocol
Deviating from the practice of only receiving the gun from the armourer
Not dealing with safety complaints on set
Not performing required safety checks with the armourer, who was hired without adequate certification
The Shadow remains a curious, almost lost superhero film. It was released in 1994, and remains a favored film of mine. I wouldn’t call it an epic masterpiece, but the movie ultimately works for me and Alec Baldwin turns in a solid performance. C’mon my shady, shadowy ones. Let’s talk comic book movies with guns, gunplay safety on movie sets and how Hollywood is reacting to the whole deadly and tragic incident.
